Quite Mouse Ornament
Made by ethnic Armenian refugees from Syria, now living in Armenia. This little mouse, hand-felted with local wool and embellished with embroidery, reminds us that all the world’s creatures are precious.
The impact
Part of the MADE51 initiative by UNHCR, each handcrafted piece made by refugee artisans tells a story of hope and resilience. Displaced artisans play a key role in keeping the rich cultural heritage of their home alive. Though forced to leave most material things behind, refugees are able to carry their traditions, skills, knowledge and craftsmanship. Refugees around the world have found that these skills can become a lifeline, offering them an opportunity to earn much-needed income, if only given the platform to do so.
